LENGTH: One Day Seminar
DATE: May 3rd, 2007
WHERE: Mahoney State Lodge

SPEAKER: Bob Dealey (The Mold Doctor)

ENROLLMENT FORM

Bob Dealey has twenty-five years experience in the engineering, design, building and productionizing of sophisticated molds including high cavitation runnerless injection molds.

A graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, he held numerous technical and managerial positions in the plastics industry before forming his own Plastics Management, Marketing, and Technical Consulting firm.

In 1994, Bob was awarded the prestigious SPE Honored Member Status and named Mold Designer of the Year by the MM and MD Division of SPE.

Seminar Overview: Mold Design Tutorial

A recently released technical tool for learning the fundamentals of the injection mold design process from your computer in a self- paced environment. The interactive CD utilizes animated illustrations of the design process to achieve the best results from a mold design. Everything you need to know, from nomenclature to sampling the mold, is contained on the highly illustrated CD.

This technical injection mold design learning method, utilizing both interaction and animation, on CD format was developed for plastic team members to learn basic injection mold design principles and technology. The participant gains knowledge of the process in a self-paced environment while the technology is displayed in detailed animation. This tutorial approach teaches the mold functions and design options available in an injection mold for the optimum molding results.

The tutorial has over 150 illustrations, 50 animated and interactive sections and concludes with sampling of the mold, testing of your knowledge and a certificate from the Mold Doctor.

Topics

Topics include the nomenclature used for molds, types of molds, mold and machine related descriptions and mold actions. All subjected related mold design steps are illustrated with the same part for continuity in the understanding of the mold design concepts.

Sections are devoted to the examination of the part and the mirror image important to the understanding of the mold design process. Continuing with a detailed mold flow analysis, steps in the mold design process, undercuts, selection of core cavity and plate thickness, venting, gating, parting line selection, mold material selection, machining of the core, mold finishes, material selection, number of cavities, mold cooling, ejection methods, mold assembly, sampling and approval of the mold are included in the major sections.

Fifty different sections are included in the Tutorial. At the conclusion the mold is assembled and a mold trial is held. A test is included and a Certificate can be printed.
